Dun Concha Abiera, Yabong Founder, as Youth Coordinator for Asia and the Pacific of the Youth Committee at UNESCO-led GAPMIL

The UNESCO MIL Alliance Youth Committee was initiated during the Global MIL Week 2016 Youth Agenda Forum in Sao Paulo, Brazil, as a vital part of the MIL Alliance. Embracing UNESCO’s “youth as leaders” strategy, the UNESCO MIL Alliance Youth Committee involves young professionals and youth leaders in fields related to MIL.

As a part of this initiative, youth leaders from different countries were selected to be a part of the Youth Committee. Dun Concha Abiera of YABONG was chosen to be one of the youth coordinators for Asia and the Pacific of the Youth Committee at Global Alliance for Partnerships on Media and Information Literacy (GAPMIL), led by UNESCO. Together with twelve other promising advocates and leaders, they coordinated their actions in different regions globally, starting with the Global MIL Week 2020, which features the Youth Agenda Forum.

The UNESCO MIL Alliance Youth Committee seeks to foster meaningful and structured youth participation in societies at global, regional, national, and local levels. They shaped the global MIL agenda and partnered with numerous stakeholder groups, including governments, international organizations, youth organizations, academic institutions, local associations and communities, NGOs, and private sector organizations.
