YABONG Philippines has officially launched DIGIconomy, a groundbreaking initiative designed to empower refugee youth with the digital skills they need to succeed in the 21st-century economy. In collaboration with the Empowering Refugees Tech Talent program, the four-day workshop took place on December 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2024, bringing together passionate young individuals eager to explore digital career opportunities and transform their futures.
The program featured an impressive lineup of expert speakers who guided participants through four key areas of the digital economy:
Unboxing Digital Marketing
Led by Kate Kamid of Work Beyond Borders, this session introduced participants to the core principles of digital marketing. They learned how to leverage influencer marketing for brand growth, as well as how to build effective, targeted digital marketing strategies.
Branding 101
Ena Marie Avila and Hans Joseph Tulayan of YABONG Philippines led this session, covering the fundamentals of branding and the essentials of graphic design. Attendees gained valuable insights into the branding process, enabling them to develop their unique brand identities.
Content Creation 101
With Mitzi Gayosa and Ferville Grace Tripoli from Work Beyond Borders, this session focused on the importance of content creation in the digital space. Participants learned how to navigate social media platforms, harness the power of storytelling, and use tools to create compelling content that engages and resonates with audiences.
How to Get a Client?
Junette Mae Lorenzo from Work Beyond Borders shared her expertise in this final session, guiding participants on how to optimize their profiles on LinkedIn and other job platforms. She provided valuable advice on securing clients and building a successful digital career.
The DIGIconomy program was not only about acquiring technical skills but also about fostering creativity, building confidence, and creating pathways to success. Many participants expressed how the program opened their eyes to new possibilities, providing them with practical tools and the knowledge to pursue digital careers.
